MET.I.: The Buzzi Unicem Foundation supports research on mesothelioma

On October 9 and 10, the scientific network MET.I. – Mesotelioma Team Italy held its congress in Bergamo. In this context, the Buzzi Unicem ETS Foundation actively supported the network’s activities, contributing to the promotion of research and therapeutic pathways aimed at the management and treatment of mesothelioma, a rare and complex tumor caused by asbestos exposure.

During the event, the first edition of the MET.I. “Federico Rea” Award was presented to Professor Renato Balduzzi, former Minister of Health, for his commitment to patient protection and the development of the National Asbestos Plan.

As highlighted by Consolata Buzzi, President of the Foundation:

“Our commitment has always been focused on supporting research and collaboration between doctors, associations, and institutions, in order to ensure consistent and high-quality care pathways for all patients.”

The congress confirmed the importance of coordinating medical-scientific, association, and financial expertise to chronicize mesothelioma, that is, to manage the disease over time and slow its progression, ensuring patients a better quality of life through uniform diagnostic and therapeutic pathways across the national territory.
