Research awarded at the SIC 2024 Congress

Also in 2024, as part of the 64th Annual Congress of the SIC - Italian Society of Cancerology, Fondazione Buzzi Unicem has awarded two young researchers for their studies on Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma (MPM). The awardees are Francesca Caprioglio and Diletta Rosati, whom we interviewed to allow them to present their research.

Società Italiana di Cancerologia (SIC) is an apolitical and non-profit association. It brings together cancerology scholars in order to promote its progress both in the experimental and clinical-social fields; to facilitate scientific collaborations and synergies between biomedical researchers in cancerology; to establish relationships with similar national and foreign associations; to advocate for the need to teach cancerology in scientific faculties; to promote the training and professional growth of young researchers working in the discipline; to implement any action aimed at promoting and increasing cancerology and protecting the interests, including professional ones, of its scholars.

Furthermore, the Association aims to organize initiatives (conferences, meetings, symposiums, etc.) aimed at the continuous training of doctors and healthcare personnel (as required by current SSN legislation), to carry out dissemination and awareness-raising work towards the public opinion and towards the media and healthcare authorities regarding discoveries and issues of social and welfare interest in the oncology field.
