The non-profit Buzzi Unicem Foundation was established in 2003 by Buzzi Unicem SpA in Casale Monferrato to promote and support activities aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of malignant mesothelioma, a particularly aggressive tumor associated with the environmental and occupational exposure to asbestos.
This very serious disease is a social phenomenon with extremely grave consequences in the Casale area, which was formerly a center of the asbestos industry. The Foundation fulfills its charter regarding the research, diagnosis and treatment of malignant mesothelioma by funding projects proposed by researchers from universities, research institutes and hospitals in the following areas:
The Foundation is involved with the public sector by funding projects that promote the sharing of ideas, experience and resources that can help get the right solutions to the clinic, the ideal link between science and the patient.
